Shadow Dungeon DPS Tester
The 1.0 dummy attacks back. Use it for counterattack skills, not a fake parse addon.
Version 1.0 (August 26, 2026) shipped a DPS Tester. The official sentence is short: it can attack the player and trigger counterattack skills that activate when the player is hit. That is the whole published spec. This page will not invent a floating combat log, a parse website, or a ranked dummy leaderboard.
Use the tester after you have a rotation from one of your three class trees (Talent Trees) and at least a rough hybrid plan. Live patch 1.0.1 (August 27) did not mention the dummy. If it misbehaves, treat that as a player report until Steam news names it.
Why OO Cat built an attacking dummy
Many ARPGs give you a punching bag that never hits back. Shadow Dungeon’s 1.0 notes call out weapon-granted skills that include shields that block enemy projectiles, skill conversions, auras, and summoned creature attacks with additional skills. Several of those only show their value when you take a hit. A dummy that swings at you lets Holy Warrior sustain, Necromancer recasts, and any on-hit defensive grant actually fire.
Controller automatic attacks and automatic target acquisition (1.0) still apply. If you test on a pad, stand where auto-target will stick the dummy. See Combat and Steam Deck.
What to measure without fake meters
- Whether a counterattack node you spent points on actually triggers when you are hit.
- Whether a set affix that alters skill form (Armor Sets) still behaves when you are being attacked, not only when you dump into empty space.
- Whether a weapon-granted skill from the 1.0 affix pass (Skills / Summoning Skills categories) needs incoming damage to start.
- Whether buff potions (one-button in 1.0) change the feel of a burst window. Do not empty your potion stock on the dummy if a boss is next.
Do not compare your “DPS” to a YouTube overlay as if it were official. Community videos such as the Mage, Paladin, Ranger, and Necromancer showcases are better for seeing skill trees than for a number.
Where the dummy fits in the loop
Campaign maps still matter more than the tester. Drops follow the map (Farming). After the story, Greater Rifts are the loot check. Use the dummy when you respec (1.0.1 fixed pinnacle talents not clearing) so you know a counterattack tree still works before you walk into Inferno.
Paragon after 100 adds attributes. Re-test counterattacks after a Paragon spend if a node claims to scale when you are hit. The client text wins over this paragraph.
What this page will not invent
- No map coordinates for the dummy room.
- No listed dummy HP or armor table.
- No “best dummy class” ranking.
- No addon that exports parses. This is a single-player offline-friendly ARPG, not a raid logger.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions about Shadow Dungeon.
What is the Shadow Dungeon DPS Tester?
A 1.0 training dummy that can attack you so skills that trigger when you are hit actually fire. OO Cat did not publish a combat-log addon.
Does the dummy drop loot?
Steam news does not say the tester drops map loot. Farm maps and Greater Rifts for gear. Use the dummy to test builds.
Should I test on controller or mouse?
Test on the input you play. 1.0 added mouse movement and controller auto-target/auto-attack. 1.0.1 fixed pad recognition and pad-related frame drops.
Did 1.0.1 change the DPS Tester?
The published 1.0.1 list does not mention it. Assume the 1.0 dummy behavior until a later note says otherwise.
Can I use the dummy to practice Greater Rift packs?
The dummy is for hit-triggered skills and personal rotation feel. Inferno pack density is a rift problem. Run actual Greater Rifts for that.
