Shadow Dungeon Treasure Sprites Guide
Fairies that collect, salvage, and clip through walls — plus the 1.0.1 fixes.
Treasure Sprites are the 1.0 companion fairies documented in OO Cat’s Complete Official Version Content announcement. In that post they are not a class, not a mercenary (mercenaries are future content), and not a paid pet. They exist to keep Shadow Dungeon’s enormous loot pipe moving: 100 million-plus items from 3,200 templates, with 50%+ legendary or mythic, across 160 campaign maps and post-story Greater Rifts.
Official capabilities are short and specific. Sprites help pick up equipment, can directly salvage unwanted equipment into gold, have unique effects that differ by sprite, and can pass through walls to retrieve equipment stuck outside walls. Patch 1.0.1 (August 27, 2026) increased fairy movement speed and fixed fairy auto salvage. This page does not invent sprite names, rarity tiers, or farming rooms.
Why sprites exist in a 100-million-item ARPG
A single-player dungeon crawler with unlimited warehouse pages still buries you in ground loot. Weapons can roll 1,000+ affixes in five categories and grant 2,400 skill-style effects. Sets (15 per class) often alter skill forms. If every legendary sat on the floor until you walked over it, campaign pace (30–50 hours to the Demon Lord) would stall. Sprites are the announced automation layer: pickup, salvage-to-gold, and wall retrieval.
Gold from salvage feeds the store-listed Reforging, Enchanting & Enhancement loop. Sprites are not listed as the sink for rift-exclusive runes and stones. Keep Talent Skill Runes, Equipment Skill Runes, Attribute Runes, Socketing Stones, Super Enhancement Stones, Essence Stones, Permanent Magic Stones, Golden Hammer, and Divine Mirror unless the live UI clearly treats them as salvage junk.
Pickup, salvage, and unique effects
Pickup is the baseline: the fairy collects equipment so you can keep fighting. Combined with mouse movement or controller auto-attack, that means you are not forced to break a pack to click every drop.
Direct salvage into gold is the filter. Unwanted bases become currency instead of warehouse clutter. Extra inventory pages unlock through quests; the warehouse has unlimited pages. Salvage is for trash quality or duplicate bases you will never wear, not a requirement to delete every legendary.
Unique effects are official: different sprites have their own. OO Cat did not publish those effects in the 1.0 post or in 1.0.1. This wiki will not invent speed auras, magnet radii, or luck bonuses. After launch, read the in-game sprite description; if a later patch names effects, the Updates Hub can absorb them.
Passing through walls
Sprites can even pass through walls and retrieve equipment that gets stuck outside walls. That is collision recovery, not a player wall-hack. Dense maps, Steam Deck scale-downs (some objects removed for FPS), and projectile-heavy fights can shove items into geometry. The fairy is the documented tool to fetch them. You still cannot walk through those walls; the sprite can.
If loot vanished into scenery before 1.0.1, try again after the movement speed increase. A faster fairy is more likely to finish a retrieval before you leave the map. Map-tied monster levels and drops still decide what spawned; the sprite only collects it.
Patch 1.0.1 fairy fixes
Steam news 1.0.1-2026.8.27 Bug Fix includes two sprite lines:
- Increased fairy movement speed
- Fixed fairy auto salvage
Auto salvage failing at launch would look like a sprite that follows you but never converts junk, or a toggle that does nothing. 1.0.1 is the documented repair. The patch does not add a new sprite, does not rename Treasure Sprites, and does not list extra unique effects. Other 1.0.1 items (controllers, XP, health UI, backpack sort, pinnacle respec) are unrelated except that a working session makes sprites easier to observe. Full hotfix: Patch 1.0.1 Notes.
Combat, rifts, and inventory around sprites
Sprites do not change class playstyles: Sorcerer (elemental), Holy Warrior (dual blades), Archer (precision), Necromancer (summons). They do not add co-op. They do not replace Paragon or unlimited late-game skill points.
In Greater Rifts, floors can be loot-dense because higher difficulties raise rare chance and extra weapon affixes. Let the fairy clear the ground so you can read affixes in town. The store’s Mystic Dungeon Challenges remain a separately listed name; do not assume sprites behave differently there unless the game shows it. See Mystic Dungeon.
Buff potions can be fired with one controller or hotkey press per the 1.0 notes; that is independent of sprite salvage. The DPS Tester attacks you to proc on-hit counter skills; it is not a sprite test dummy.
What this page will not claim
No Discord drop tables. No invented keybind for summoning a fairy. No unnamed desert cache that “always” spawns a rare sprite. No MTX shop for cosmetic fairies — the game has no microtransactions. No seasonal sprite resets. Future Mercenary content is a different announced system.
For the rest of the loot pipeline, start at the Items Hub. For input while you kite and let the fairy work, see Combat and Controls and Settings. Launch systems overview: 1.0 Launch Content.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions about Shadow Dungeon.
What can Treasure Sprites do?
Per the 1.0 announcement: pick up equipment, salvage unwanted equipment into gold, apply unique effects that differ by sprite, and pass through walls to retrieve gear stuck outside collision.
What did patch 1.0.1 change for fairies?
It increased fairy movement speed and fixed auto salvage. It did not publish new unique effects or sprite names.
Should I salvage Greater Rift runes with a sprite?
Rift-exclusive runes and named stones are a separate 1.0 list. Sprites are described as salvaging unwanted equipment into gold. Store runes until you know the live upgrade UI.
Can I walk through walls because sprites can?
No. The announcement says sprites can pass through walls to retrieve stuck equipment. That does not grant the player wall clipping.
Are Treasure Sprites a paid pet or a mercenary?
They are launch 1.0 features with no MTX. Mercenary is announced future free content, not the fairy system.
Do sprites replace extra inventory pages?
No. Extra backpack pages still unlock through quests, and the warehouse still has unlimited pages. Sprites reduce ground clutter and convert trash to gold.
