Shadow Dungeon Items & Loot

Master the loot that makes your build truly legendary.

Last updated:

Welcome to the Shadow Dungeon Items and Loot hub. With over 100,000,000 different items in the game, the equipment system is one of Shadow Dungeon’s most deep and rewarding aspects. This hub covers everything from basic loot mechanics to advanced Reforging and Enchanting strategies.

Understanding the Loot System

Shadow Dungeon features a semi-randomized loot system where over 100,000,000 different items can be generated from 3,200 base templates. More than half of all equipment is legendary or mythic quality, making powerful loot surprisingly common compared to traditional dungeon crawlers.

Each item is defined by:

  • Base Type — The weapon, armor, or accessory template
  • Rarity — Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic
  • Affixes — Stat bonuses and special properties
  • Socket — Optional gem slots for additional customization
  • Skill Grants — Some items provide additional active or passive skills

Item Rarity Guide

Common and Uncommon

Basic items with simple stat distributions. These are primarily useful as crafting fodder or early-game stepping stones. Do not invest heavily in these items.

Rare

The first tier with meaningful affix variety. Rare items typically have 2-3 stat affixes and occasionally include useful passive effects. Suitable for mid-game use until better items are found.

Epic

Significant step up in power with 3-4 stat affixes and higher base stats. Epic items often include skill grants or special effects. These are the workhorse items for most of the game.

Legendary

The premier loot tier with 4-5 stat affixes, often including powerful unique effects or additional skill grants. Legendary items can dramatically transform your build’s performance. More than half of all loot is legendary or mythic, making these items surprisingly accessible.

Mythic

The absolute best items in the game with maximum stat rolls, unique effects, and multiple skill grants. Mythic items are rare but provide transformative power increases.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about Shadow Dungeon.

How does the item generation system work in Shadow Dungeon?

Items are generated from 3,200 base templates with semi-random stat assignments. The rarity of each item determines the number and quality of stat affixes. More than half of all items are legendary or mythic quality, meaning players find powerful loot frequently. Each item's specific stats are determined by a combination of template type, rarity, and random rolls within that rarity's ranges.

What makes an item good for my build?

The best items for your build prioritize stats that synergize with your talent choices and playstyle. For example, a Fire Sorcerer values Spell Power and Burning Duration, while a Holy Warrior values Attack Speed and Life Steal. Item quality matters less than having the right affixes for your specific build.

Should I keep or sell common items?

Sell common items that do not have useful affixes. However, some common items with particularly useful base types or rare affix combinations can be worth keeping for the Reforging system. Generally, only keep items that have affixes relevant to your class and build; sell everything else for gold to purchase better equipment.

How do I get Mythic quality items?

Mythic items have a low drop rate but can be found throughout the game. The drop rate increases in later chapters and Mystic Dungeon content. Additionally, the Reforging system can upgrade Legendary items toward Mythic quality over time. Patience and persistence in farming the right content areas is the primary path to Mythic gear.

What is the most valuable thing to look for when evaluating loot?

Skill grants are often more valuable than raw stat bonuses. An item that grants an additional active or passive skill can dramatically expand your build's capabilities. After skill grants, look for affixes that directly synergize with your talent tree choices. Finally, prioritize items with multiple relevant high-roll affixes over items with more but lower-quality affixes.
