Update 0.4.0 Notes

Update 0.4.0 is official Steam news from OO Cat, posted in the demo window (news timestamp May 2026). It is not the live 1.0 client. The full game launched August 26, 2026; 1.0.1 followed on August 27. Read this page as demo history, then use Full Release and Patch 1.0.1 for what you play now.

The Steam post is short. This wiki will not pad it with invented patch math.

Official 0.4.0 changelog

  • New chapter
  • 10 bosses
  • 30 levels
  • Full localization completed for 24 languages

OO Cat thanked players for trying Shadow Dungeon, noted it was a first game after a long development stretch, and linked YouTube and X.

Closing line of the post: the demo version will not receive any further major updates. Work would focus on the full version. That matches the demo still being available as a separate app (4563350) while the paid game is 4423580. Gameplay footage from the demo era includes LoveBerry’s demo video and Sleepy Cat’s ARPG look.

How 0.4.0 relates to 1.0

1.0 announced 160 main story levels, seven chapters, campaign length 30–50 hours, Greater Rifts, Treasure Sprites, Paragon at 100, and a large weapon-affix pass. Those numbers supersede a 30-level demo slice. Do not use 0.4.0’s “10 bosses” as the live boss count; the store now lists 60-plus unique bosses.

24-language localization in 0.4.0 is the same language set the 1.0 store still advertises (English, French, German, Spanish, and twenty others including Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese). This wiki covers four site languages only.

Why keep a 0.4.0 page

Searchers still find demo reviews and old patch titles. This page stops them from thinking 0.4.0 is the live branch. If your Steam library only has the demo, you are on the frozen 0.4.0-era build by design. Buy or wait for 1.0 systems: map-tied drops, Greater Rifts, runes, Steam Deck layouts.

Demo app versus paid library

Steam keeps two apps. If you only own 4563350, you are not on 1.0 even if the store page for 4423580 says live. Buy the full game for 160 maps, Greater Rifts, Paragon, Treasure Sprite 1.0 behavior, and the 1.0.1 hotfix. Save transfer is not documented; this wiki will not promise it.

The May post does not mention Greater Rifts, Paragon, Treasure Sprites, the DPS Tester, Steam Deck X/A/Y skill binds, or the 2,400 weapon-granted skills. Those arrived in the 1.0 news titled Complete Official Version Content. Treat any 0.4.0 screenshot of a UI as history, not a current settings guide. For live binds see Controls and Settings. For live loot see Farming and Items. If a YouTube thumbnail still says demo, check the upload date against August 26, 2026 before you treat the UI as current.
